Bujinkan Dai Shihan

24th October 2022

Sixth newsletter. We finished studying the Takagiyoshin-ryu Jutaijutsu. The video is being edited and will probably be out in November or December at budoshop.se.

Five members of the Dojo went to study with Nagato Sensei at the Taikai Germany in late August. There was nearly 600 participants attending, I estimate there was about 100 girls and 100 Dai-shihan's. We need more women and less Dai-shihans's in Bujinkan.

I had some problems with the websites recently. Hopefully they are working better from now on.

Please help me make this a better resource for everyone practicing the Bujinkan Martial Arts. Contribute and help grow this newsletter by sending me news, seminar advertisements.

Send me anything you think might be of interest to all of us Bujinkan practitioners to [email protected]
But please no links to FB or sites that requires a log in (I am not on FB!).

勇気を持つ BIG BALLS - 2022 #6

Five members of the Dojo went to study with Nagato Sensei at the Taikai Germany in late August. I was kind of disappointed to only see one other Swedish dojo there.

But the training was good, nearly 600 participants from around 20 countries attended. It was good to see many people i usually only see in Japan (even if we live in the same town).

The venue was too small for 600 people, it was just like training in Honbu Dojo when it was busy. Unfortunately it was forbidden to take pictures at the Taikai so I don't have any.

Around 25 people went up to do the Sakki-test, one of them was my student. I told him the days before that I did it as number 10 in 1992 and I became quite nervous because everyone before me was passing the test, and maybe it was best to be the first one to try.

I was surprised that my student Andreas somehow went up as the first person to sit for the test. He passed it cleanly. He paved the way for all others to pass the test on their first try. There was only one person rolling away too soon, he was allowed to try again, and he passed. The Godan-tests is truly becoming the "hundredth monkey effect", I wonder how many lives around the world is saved every year because of us.

Kaigozan Dojo Training

The training continues the this fall on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 19:30 to 21:00 at Kaigozan Dojo. We might notify on twitter with short notice if the training is cancelled. We never take vacations, there is always someone that open the dojo for training.

I have only written one public book, and it is the YUDANSHA book. I got very good feedback from many prominent Bujinkan teachers including Hatsumi Soke. The book covers all the Taijutsu techniques I think every 5'th Dan should know by heart.

The book is only available from Lulu!

Below is two pages from the book as an example. It is available in a few different formats and bindings.

3 Tips for 大外掛 Ōsoto Gake You Should Start Using Now

Tonight in my class we studied 夢落 yume otoshi. The last time I did this in Japan, Hatsumi Sensei gave us some insights that I want to share with you. He began by telling us 空間で嚮導 Kūkan de kyōdō, or lead the opponent in the kukan.

Jūjiro Or The Indirect Fight

In the Kukishin ryū, there is one central concept that many don’t know, and it is called “Jūjiro”. With the pandemic, everyone experiences difficult times, and it seems that many of us should be reminded of some basic concepts. Jūjiro is one of them.

Is 2022 A Dive Into The Abyss?

Happy Shinnen to all! This 新年 (shinnen) is the Japanese for “New Year”. (1) This became a particular date only when humans began counting time. But this cosmic event has been going on for more than 4.5 billion years.
We collected nearly 2000 articles and essays from the most well known Instructors of the Bujinkan Dojo since 2005.
